Concept
The multiplicity of agencies and institutions in the urban transport sector creates a need to work within a common policy framework across the city, region, state and national tiers. The development of such a policy and legislative framework for different facets of urban transport can guide the action plans of the agencies towards a common goal.
UMTC's approach to help governments develop effective policies and legislations
UMTC has been involved in developing policy and legislative frameworks in the following areas:
- State-level transport policy
- City-level parking policy
- City-level NMT policy
- City-level transit advertising policy
- Transit Oriented Development (TOD) policy
- Establishment of the Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA)
- Establishment of the Urban Transport Fund (UTF)
